Frequently Asked Questions
Is the i24 a router? β
No. The i24 is an access point: it adds Wi-Fi coverage to an existing network. You still need a router (or your ISP's router) to connect to the internet, and the i24 connects to it by cable.
Why use a ceiling AP instead of a regular router? β
A ceiling-mounted AP broadcasts downward in a 360Β° pattern providing much more even coverage across the entire floor. For offices, shops, and restaurants, ceiling APs eliminate dead zones far more effectively than desk routers.
What do I need to power the i24? β
The i24 takes 802.3at (PoE+) power, so use a PoE switch or injector that supports 802.3at, and one Cat5e/Cat6 cable powers and connects the AP. It can also run from a DC power adapter.
How many i24 units do I need for my office or shop? β
Tenda rates the i24 for up to about 300 sq metres in open space. Walls and partitions reduce this, so in partitioned offices plan for roughly one unit per 100β150 sq metres.
What is the difference between the i24 and the i27? β
The i24 is AC1200 Wi-Fi 5 for standard commercial deployments. The i27 is AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 with 160MHz support and up to 400 sq metres coverage, better for busy, high-density spaces.
